My Top Tips for Landing Clients with Email Pitches

November 6, 2023

< back to blog home

I’m really excited about this podcast episode because I recently hired a VA for my business, and the experience got me thinking about what makes a standout email pitch to start landing clients. If you’re applying for VA jobs or sending pitches to clients, you’re in the right place!

I’ve been where you are, sending emails and wondering why I wasn’t landing the clients I wanted. So, in this episode, I’ll share my perspective from the hiring side and give you some tips to help you stand out and land the clients you want. If you’ve ever felt discouraged about not hearing back from clients, this one’s for you!

Don’t rush your emails

When you see a job posting, it’s natural to want to be the first in the inbox. But don’t rush it! Take your time to craft a pitch that stands out. Sending a well-thought-out email a little later can often make a better impression than a hasty one.

Show you’ve done your research

Take a few extra minutes to look up the potential client’s business, social media, or website. Mention something specific in your pitch that shows you’ve done your homework! It’s a simple way to demonstrate your interest and investment. Landing clients takes work on your part!

Add your personality and flair

Don’t be afraid to show your personality in your pitch. If the client can relate to you or find something in common, it can set you apart from a sea of generic pitches. A little humor or personal touch can go a long way!

Include all essential info

Make sure to include ALL the information the client has requested in the body of your email. Sometimes they won’t click on your links or attachments. If you don’t provide the necessary details, you might get overlooked.

Make it easy for the client

Include any necessary links in your pitch – like a link to your portfolio or a booking link for a discovery call. Clients appreciate when you make it easy for them to take the next steps!

Don’t be afraid to follow up

If you don’t hear back, it’s perfectly fine to send a polite follow-up email. Sometimes the client might have missed your pitch or needed more time to decide. A friendly nudge can remind them of your pitch.

Don’t get discouraged

Remember, not getting a response doesn’t mean your pitch was bad. Sometimes it’s just a numbers game. Keep pitching, keep improving, and don’t let the occasional “no response” get you down!

Keep in mind that it might take hearing many “no’s” before you land that “yes.” With each email, you’ll learn and improve. And, if you ever feel discouraged, remember that you’re not alone in this experience. I’ve been there, and I can assure you that practice and patience pays off. So, keep those emails coming, keep refining your approach, and you’ll find success! Landing clients takes time!
